Primate Tracking

Thirteen species of primates, including Chimpanzees, Colobus, and the rare L’Hoest Monkey, can be observed in Nyungwe National Park. Chimpanzee tracking begins at 5:30am. Visitors walk several hours until they reach the Chimpanzees’ location, at which point they are allowed to observe them for a maximum of one hour.

Hiking along Nyungwe’s fifteen, mountainous yet well maintained trails offers an excellent opportunity for birdwatching, enjoying the Canopy walkway, or visiting one of the Parks several waterfalls. In addition, the trails bring Nyungwe’s summits within reach, with a panoramic view of Lake Kivu as a reward.
